Must Have Monday - A Symbol of Remembrance

Memorial Day is a time to remember those who are serving our country and those who have served our country. We remember the heroes, the fallen, the sons and daughters, the husbands and wives. It is a time that we take to both mourn and celebrate.

On Memorial Day it is often difficult to think about those who we have loved and lost, while celebrating their dedication and heroism.

Today as I remember I think in images. I see the faces of my husband, my father, my brother, my uncles, my grandfather, my in-laws, my friends. I see the many faces who have served this country. And with a sorrow heart I see the faces of the friends that we have lost in the last year.

I went on a hunt today, searching Etsy's variety of shops - looking for the perfect symbol of remembrance. And the pinwheels of Rule 42 really stood out to me. Their American colors speak to that pride we have when we remember. In the wind a pinwheel spins wildly, enjoying the rush of life. When the wind has calmed the stillness of the pinwheels reflects that which comes with the loss of life. It is the perfect symbol of remembrance.

Let's Play, It's Saturday!

Yankee Doodle Tutu by Kennedy's Korner

I know that there are many people who would much prefer for you to remember their service in the Armed Forces with taking time to celebrate life, to play. So make sure to take time to do a little of that this Memorial Holiday too: dance, sing and laugh!

On the Homefront: Remembering Those that Inspire Us

My hubby relaxing in a hammock in Afghanistan --- I made that hat for him!

My husband has an incredible knack for making the worst of situations as comfortable as possible. He will make you laugh, he will make you smile, he will bring tears of joy to your eyes! My husband is truly a major source of inspiration to me. He inspired me to make these soldier magnets:

and continues to inspire me to create many wonderful items for the home and office. His praise and encouragement is the best even when it is from thousands of miles away!

How have the men and women of the Armed Forces inspired you? Please use the comment space below to write about the service men and women who have inspired you. If you have a product line or item that they helped you come up with or encouraged you to create, please feel free to share a link to that item as well! I am excited to read and see what the wonderful men and women of our Armed Forces inspire in you!

Thursday and Undiscovered: Memorial Day

This week as we approach Memorial Day I wanted to take time to remember those who are serving and have served in the past and in the more recent years, as well as those who have fallen. As an Army wife and a Navy daughter and sister, I am always reminded of the strength that these men and women must have to serve and the strength that their loved ones also must have to travel the journey with them.

Thank you for taking time to remember.

On This Memorial Day

Photograph taken at Pearl Harbor by my loving husband, Drew.

I have been a member of a military family my entire life. Starting as a NAVY "brat" and then becoming an ARMY wife I have always been exposed to the sacrifices that our soldiers encounter as well as their families. I am so thankful that there were and remain individuals that will fight for our freedoms, the nations stability and his our her family. Without these men and women I doubt that our nation would have made the progress that it has.

Please take this time to celebrate with me the strength, the valor, and bravery of all our soldiers past and present. To the soldiers and their families I send my love and strength! I will always remember.
